How to set up a Sound Bar

  ponytail 09:03 12 Jan 2019

My wife has decided it would be nice to have a soundbar since we visited our son and she saw his new TV and Sound Bar.I went to Currys PC World yesterday but there are so many and so confusing.I would be happy to pay about £100 but not sure of the set up procedure. Some said bluetooth some said wireless but the salesman suggested that using a optical cable was best.I did read that it was better to connect them using a HDMI lead plugged into the HDMI 1 socket on the TV and into the HDMI socket on the sound bar.My HDMI socket is marked up as (ARC 1 ).The TV is a Sony KDL-42W653A.Would it just be a question of plugging in the HDMI lead and it would be ready to go.Thanks

Optical cable best. Ensure sound bar spec says it can be taught to accept commands from tv remote. In tv settings turn off tv speakers. Read manuals for details

Thanks. I liked the posting about inexpensive speakers. It's spot on
